How Do I Find My Size and Fit?

We have created a size guide (see bottom of page) to serve as a general guideline for helping you find your size in our garment.

The numbers in our size guide are body measurements. You will have to use your own measurements to determine which size is the closest match to your body.  See the graphic and steps below for how to best measure yourself.

To further refine your size choice, please read our blog, “How to Confirm Your KAUTE Size Choice.

LET’S BEGIN!

Tools to measure: Use a sewing (or dressmakers) measuring tape measure that’s soft and can hug your body. Or, you can place a piece of string around your body, mark the length and then spread out the string on a long ruler.  Also, you will want to stand in front of a mirror to make sure that your tape doesn’t twist.

How to measure: Measure around the widest part of your bust, the narrowest part of your natural waist and the widest part of your hips. Use a tape measure over your usual bra and underwear while doing this. Keep the tape taut and level to the floor. And, if possible, have someone assist you with the measuring.

Take and Record Your Three (3) Measurements Below

To start, stand straight in front of a full-length mirror in a relaxed position. Breathe normally and avoid sucking in or holding your breath.

  1. BUST - Place the tape measure 1-2 inches below your armpit on one side, guiding it around your back, and ending back where you started. Make sure you measure over the fullest point of your bust. Do not draw the tape too tightly. Note: Bust measurement is not your bra size.
  2. WAIST - Find the halfway point between your belly button and the bottom of your ribs. Circle a tape measure all the way around this part of your torso to get your waistline measurement.
  3. HIP - Stand with your feet together. Find the widest part of your hips and place your measuring tape in the middle of this point.  Bring the tape around your back to join at the starting point.

Use Your Measurements to Determine Your Size in our Guide

Review the size guide (at the bottom of the page) and look for your measurements. Start with your BUST measurement, as it is usually the most helpful in sizing for shirts. If you are right on the dividing line between sizes, we suggest you consider sizing down or up to the next size listed.

Read Our Notes on the Garment’s Fit

In addition to our size guide, you will see notes on our product pages about the fit of our garment. These notes explain how fitted the design is or whether you should size up if a loose or oversized fit is preferred. You will also see information about the measurements of our model and the size she is wearing. Consider these fit suggestions as you confirm your size choice.

Consult Our Garment Measurements Chart

Further guidance is offered by the size of the KAUTE garment itself. The Garment Measurements Chart on our product page shows you different points of measurements (POMs) on the KAUTE garment for each size (XS-XXL). To learn how to use this specific chart and to confirm your overall size choice, read our helpful blog post, “How to Confirm Your KAUTE Size Choice.

Note: KAUTE's shirt fabric has not been prewashed. This fabric is made from organic cotton, which can naturally shrink slightly during the first wash. You may notice a small difference in size after the first wash, but it will be negligible. Our size guide has already taken this into account.
